The last meetup in Hannover, Germany was an incredible experience - one I am very much looking to relive again. As such, I took it upon myself to organise the second meetup. This one is going to place in the southern part of Limburg, a province all the way in the south-east of the Netherlands close to the German and Belgian country borders. It is known for its rolling hills and picturesque landscapes, but is also home to places interesting to us dragons in particular such as caves, castles and nature preserves.

Day 1: We meet up in Aachen, Germany. This city is easy to travel to by public transport. We will spend the rest of the day at the three country point, where the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium meet. It's also the Netherlands' highest point, making for a nice hike.
Day 2: We will go to Brunssum, where we will be able to have some delicious Limburgse vlaai together. From there, we go on paw to Schutterspark (through Vijverpark, another smaller park) and Brunsummerheide, the nature reserve situated next to the park. We will go to Hoensbroek for a tour of one of the Netherlands' largest castles. Afterwards, we spend our remaining time in the centre.
Day 3: This day, we will be spending our time in Maastricht, the capital city of Limburg situated close to the Belgian border. We will be exploring the northern caves under the Sint Pietersberg hill, which is full with unique history and cave drawings. Afterwards, we will spend the remainder of the day in the city centre. From here, people who need to go home early can do so by taking the train up north (Netherlands), to Aachen (Germany) or Liège (Belgium). Outside of food and the accommodation, we are expecting the activities to cost roughly € 25-30 per person. We recommend bringing € 50 just in case!

Though we will be visiting multiple countries, we will predominantly be in the Netherlands. For anyone who is not yet familiar with the Netherlands, here is a quick facts sheet.

🚰 Tap water is safe to drink.
🔌 We have German "schuko" outlets over here. French/Belgian plugs will generally fit as well. Else, bring an adapter!
💳 On top of some cash, make sure to bring your debit card (EC-Karte). There are many places where you are not able to use cash, such as public transport.
🍔 Tipping is appreciated, but not required, in restaurants. Yum!
♻️ There is a deposit on plastic bottles and cans ("statiegeld"). Make sure to hand these in at the supermarket before returning to your own county.
🌐 Nearly all people have English (sometimes German in Limburg) as a second language, so don't be shy!
🛍️ Most shops and supermarkets in the Netherlands are open on Sundays (take that, Germany).
🛂 As always, bring your passport. Especially since there might be checks in public transport or when crossing the border with Germany.
🚆 For public transport within the Netherlands, use the 9292 app (https://9292.nl/en/about-9292/services/mobile) to plan your journey and purchase e-tickets. For holders of the DeutschlandTicket, even though your train or bus might be going to / from Germany, you still need a ticket for the part within the Netherlands.
